Connect children to wildlife on Nature Reserves with fun hands on activities
The RSPB and Natural England in partnership deliver outdoor environmental education in the Avalon Marshes near Glastonbury. This wetland landscape in the Somerset Levels combines man-made and natural heritage. Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve is home to the Neolithic Sweet Track, the oldest trackway known in Britain (3800 BC). Ham Wall Nature Reserve is a wetland reserve created from old peat diggings with boardwalks, pond dipping platforms and bird hides. The Avalon Marshes is a conservation success story with increasing numbers of booming bitterns, otters, water voles, eels and the largest wintering roost of starlings in the UK.
