Outdoor learning, enrichment courses, day visits & holiday activities for schools, youth groups & individuals.

Somerset Outdoor and Residential Learning Service (SORLS) consists of four residential, outdoor education centres. We have Kilve Court, the Outdoor Centre, Great Wood on the Quantocks and Charterhouse on the Mendip Hills. The service was founded over 50 years ago and has continuously provided learning in the environment and away from the classroom.

With a strong emphasis on community and with a heart for Somerset, we provide residential courses for schools, youth groups and individuals who wish to learn and explore in a new environment.

The service offers tailored outdoor learning experiences, day visits and holiday activities and is well respected nationally for its enrichment courses for more able students. These programmes focus on challenging learners to look at the subject in a new light, improving school attainment and supporting classroom learning.

SORLS exists to enable young people to undertake outdoor learning to expand their horizons and enrich their lives and is happy to mix adventure, personal and social values and education together in order to do so.
